Front Gets Legend Seekers on Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood and English Myths’ Trail

May 01 2010

With Robin Hood mania quickly gripping much of the country thanks to the opening of Ridley Scott’s latest blockbuster adaptation last week, Front - the Sheffield based advertising agency – has launched a brand new Myths and Legends promotion for VisitEngland to capitalise on the blockbuster’s release.

The team at Front has created, designed, illustrated and developed an interactive, animated online map that gives visitors and legend hunters the chance to explore the locations of some of our most famous stories and myths for themselves. The interactive map which is now live on VisitEngland’s consumer facing website, provides a handy summary of the locations connected to the filming of the hugely anticipated new film starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. The map is available at www.enjoyengland.com/mythsandlegends

Front has also developed an interactive Facebook quiz where eager myth chasers can identify which story or mythical character best sums them up. Users are asked seven simple questions about their likes, dislikes, hobbies etc and then the application tells them whether they are a Robin Hood, a mythical mermaid, an enchanted knight, a Trafalgar Lion or a magical elf. It also suggests possible UK short break and holiday ideas based on their results!

Joe Chetcuti, director at Front, commented, ‘There has been so much hype about the new Robin Hood film so this project has been a real treat to work on. England is world renowned for its myths, legends and fairy tales but many of us have no idea where they’re based or if they’re close by. The real delight of the map is that it allows people to get outdoors and make the fantasy a reality.’

Amanda Smyth, Head of Marketing at VisitEngland said; ‘The team at Front have done a great job in bringing the mythical history of England to life as the map and quiz showcase our unique storytelling heritage in an engaging way. Ultimately, we hope this will encourage people to take a break right here in England where they can uncover even more fascinating tales.’
